Oceanside library  – Working Together for You!

We may be apart, but the amazing team at the Oceanside Library has been working together (virtually) each and everyday for you and for our community! From our backrooms, side corner spaces, kitchen counters, or dining room tables, we are here and we miss you (and one another) very much!

This week our Library Director, Chris Marra, has joined us to share some of her favorite titles and authors too! While Ms. Marra is busy dealing with this global pandemic as a Library Director, she loves being part of our Comfortably Connected Book Club . “I  submitted the title Stealth (Book 51) by Stuart Woods. I always enjoy mysteries and I’m a huge Stuart Woods fan! The Stone Barrington series is fun and are quick reads!”

During this time, Ms. Marra has been making book recommendations to family and friends. “I recommended Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid to my sister. This was a great read and an excellent recommendation that came to me from our amazing staff!” Ms. Marra also enjoyed Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, which continues to be on bestseller lists.

She also wants to remind everyone to check out our new service Hoopla Digital, where cardholders can download books, audio books, movies and more. “It’s a great addition to the services we offer the community”.

And before we go… Congrats to this week’s raffle winner, Nancy! Be sure to rate and review your books online and maybe you can be our next winner!

Be safe and healthy! As our Director says, “We will all get through this together!”

The book or the movie? Maybe, both!

This week’s Virtual Cozy Book Chat talked about books we wish were movies and books that made great (or not so great) movie adaptations. We had a terrific discussion! Coincidentally this week’s winning review by library patron Deborah, (congrats Deborah!) was the streaming movie series “Little Fires Everywhere” which is based on the novel by Celeste Ng. Deborah gave the show a solid 5 stars and she also mentioned that she loved the book as well. It’s always terrific when our favorite books adapt to film enjoyably!

Speaking of movies, did you try our new library streaming service Hoopla Digital? If not, you’re going to want to check it out. Hoopla Digital is for Oceanside cardholders (over 18) that offers streaming and downloadable movies, audio books, TV shows, eBooks, music, comics and graphic novels. Best of all there are no wait times or holds so you can watch or listen right away. Check out our site for more information on Hoopla and then go and rate the title you watched or listened to for a chance to be a winner like Deborah!

Be sure to visit our online programs for fun activities, conversations, and connections at home! Keep safe and we miss you!

Winner! Winner!

We might not know what day of the week it is, but we know we have a winner! Congratulations to Harriet for her winning review of Danielle Steele’s “In His Father’s Footsteps!” Harriet gave it a full 5 stars, so be sure to add this title to your must read list!

Be sure to keep rating what you’re reading, listening too, or watching during this time. It’s the only way to win and we love sharing your reviews!  Check out our book recommendations too!

Did you know that we love to chat about our favorite TV shows? Be sure to join Debbie and Nadine on Friday night for the patron requested “A Million Little Things Fan Chat” at 8pm. We’ll talk all about our favorite moments in Season 2.  Here’s all the info you need to get online from your laptop or mobile device. Hope to see you there!
