How Do I?

Different Ways to Get a Card With Us

In-person or online, we can’t wait for you to join us!

In-Person

Have your Library Card prepared for you on the spot at our Welcome Desk.

How It Works

  1. Come to the Library with proof of identification and residency:
    • For adults: a photo ID and proof of address (i.e.: a recent phone or other bill that shows your address). We will accept proof in the form of a paper or digital documents.
    • For middle and high school students: bring your school ID.
  2. Present these items to the Welcome Desk.
  3. Begin using your Library Card immediately!

Online

Nassau Library System offers Oceanside residents the option to register for a library card online, providing immediate access to things like eBooks, audiobooks, live tutoring, digital magazines, language courses, test prep, and more!

How It Works

  1. Oceanside residents can request a card via this special NLS webpage.
  2. Oceanside staff will verify the responses via a phone call or email and provide the new barcode number to the Oceanside resident at that time.
  3. Patrons have the option to come in to pick up their new card or have it mailed to them.

If you currently have an Oceanside Library card but can not find your barcode number, please visit the Welcome Desk or call us at (516) 766-2360, option 0. Staff can reconnect you with your barcode number, renew your card if it has recently expired, and help you reset your PIN.

Temporary Digital Card

If your card has expired or you can not find it, click below to get a temporary digital card. You can do almost everything with your temporary card. You may also contact the Library at 516-766-2360 and dial 0 for the Welcome Desk where staff can assist you during library hours.

Renew Your Card

If your card has expired, you can call the Welcome Desk at 516-766-2360, option 0 to get an expiration extension. For a full renewal, you must come into the library and show your ID to Welcome Desk staff.

*Note about PINs: If you did not create a PIN when you signed up for your card, you can create your PIN the first time you login. Simply leave it blank the first time, click submit, then enter it two times when prompted to select and confirm the number. Be sure to write it down so you don’t forget it! If the system tells you that you already have a PIN, but you don’t remember it, you can call the Welcome Desk and have your PIN reset.
