our Hilarious Next book pick

We’ve picked Attachments by Rainbow Rowell as our next book discussion book. It’s a laugh out loud 1999 office drama, centered around Lincoln, a newly hired Internet Security Officer, whose job requires him to read his coworkers emails. Enter Beth and Jennifer, two email chatty coworkers who continue to break company email rules with their ongoing banter, and Lincoln just can’t seem to stop reading it.

Rowell has woven a tale of friendship, love, trust, and hope, using authentic 90’s voices in a time when the world was just on the brink of information overload. It’s a quick read and  is available for download on the Libby app. Join us on August 19 at 7:30pm for “On The Same Page” with Debbie and Nadine, as we discuss the novel and our favorite memories from 1999 and Y2K.

Please join my meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

RoadTrip Update! 900 miles and counting

We are making our way (virtually) across the country to Oceanside, California! For every 10 books that are rated in our summer reading club, we’ll travel 100 miles. To date, we have journeyed 900 miles to Nashville, Tennesse where we are taking a stop to see the sites.

Visit the Reading Roadtrip page on Paging Oceanside and take a virtual tour via Google Earth.  Learn some cool fun facts about Nashville. Visit the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and more. Click the button for Nashville and then watch the virtual tour!

We’ve got more stops along the way, so keep reading, and keep walking my friends! We are tracking the miles….

Can’t submit a review online?
No worries! Please call the library and speak to Briana about the book you would like to rate and review. We aren’t able to accept paper reviews, but that doesn’t mean you can’t participate! So, give us a call so we can enter you in the weekly summer reading raffle!

Winner! Winner!

We hope you had a great 4th of July weekend! We know one person who is having a winning week and that’s our Making Waves member Catherine! Catherine was last week’s raffle winner and we are super excited for her. Congrats to Catherine!
What is on your bookshelf this summer? Are you looking for something new and exciting to read, but aren’t sure what to select? Worry no more, fellow reader. Your friendly neighborhood librarians are here for you. Fill out a Curbside Request Form with your favorite genres, authors, and any other important details and we’ll put together a bundle of great books for you. Best of all, you can pick them up completely contact-less and curbside. It’s like having your own personal librarian shopper.
Don’t forget to keep submitting your book ratings. Not only do you get entered into our weekly raffles like our winner Catherine, but we are making our way across the country (virtually) on our Reading Roadtrip. Every 10 books rated by members gets us another 100 miles to our goal of Oceanside California.
We can do it together, Oceanside! Happy reading, everyone!

Oceanside library  – Working Together for You!

We may be apart, but the amazing team at the Oceanside Library has been working together (virtually) each and everyday for you and for our community! From our backrooms, side corner spaces, kitchen counters, or dining room tables, we are here and we miss you (and one another) very much!

This week our Library Director, Chris Marra, has joined us to share some of her favorite titles and authors too! While Ms. Marra is busy dealing with this global pandemic as a Library Director, she loves being part of our Comfortably Connected Book Club . “I  submitted the title Stealth (Book 51) by Stuart Woods. I always enjoy mysteries and I’m a huge Stuart Woods fan! The Stone Barrington series is fun and are quick reads!”

During this time, Ms. Marra has been making book recommendations to family and friends. “I recommended Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid to my sister. This was a great read and an excellent recommendation that came to me from our amazing staff!” Ms. Marra also enjoyed Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, which continues to be on bestseller lists.

She also wants to remind everyone to check out our new service Hoopla Digital, where cardholders can download books, audio books, movies and more. “It’s a great addition to the services we offer the community”.

And before we go… Congrats to this week’s raffle winner, Nancy! Be sure to rate and review your books online and maybe you can be our next winner!

Be safe and healthy! As our Director says, “We will all get through this together!”
