Help us thank our veterans by making a Thank You Plaque. Pick up your kit at the Welcome Desk and return your completed plaque to the library by November 10 to receive 2 hours of community service. The plaques will be donated to our local VFW.

Bake cookies at home to participate in this project. Your cookies will be added to Thanksgiving baskets for families in need on Long Island. After registering, a librarian will contact you about picking up your kit of cellophane bags and ribbons to put your cookies in. Cookies need to be dropped off at the library on Sunday November 13 or Monday, November 14 to earn 2 hours of community service.
Teen Think Tank
Join our Teen Think Tank to have your voice heard in the library and brainstorm with us! We’d love to hear your community service ideas and how we can better serve Oceanside teens. You will earn 1 hour of community service by participating.
Thursday, December 1 at 7:30 pm
Work on a decorative project that will be displayed in the Oceanside Senior Center. You will earn 1 hour of community service by participating.

Make a comfort bag for a local shelter. Decorate your bag with an inspirational message or drawing and fill it with toiletries and snacks for 2 hours of community service. Bags will be available for pick up at the Welcome Desk starting December 2 and are to be returned by December 9.

Decorate a container to create the cupcake sock as well as a mini cupcake canvas. Donations will be given to local shelters. Return your cupcake creations by December 16.

Join our Students Rebuild team for this year’s challenge! We’ll work together once a month to raise money for great causes. Check back for details on this year’s challenge. You will earn 1 hour of community service by participating.
November 1 – December 31
Join the DoSomething Movement and help reduce waste in our landfills by recycling. For every 10 cans or bottles you recycle, submit a copy of your recycle receipt to bmickowski@oceansidelibrary and earn 1 hour of community service. Maximum number of 100 cans for 10 hours. You keep the money and help save our planet at the same time!
November 1 – December 1
Help bring warmth and comfort during the cold months to children in need by donating a pair of new mittens. Earn 1 hour of community service for every pair donated. Maximum of 5 pairs for 5 hours.

Cards for the Little St. Nick Foundation
Use any craft supplies you have at home to make homemade cards. Click here for suggestions on messages to include. Make 5 cards for 1 hour of community service. Maximum of 3 hours total. Return completed cards to the Teen/Adult Librarian Desk to receive community service credit. A certificate will be emailed, so be sure to attach your name and email address.
Book Review Submissions
Contribute to our new Teen Bookstagram by reviewing a book you recently read! Click here for details and for the Google Form to submit your first review. You can submit a maximum of 2 reviews per month for 1 hour of service each.
