Summer Reading Club Volunteers (Grades 7-12)

July 5 – August 13
In-Person Registration Only in the Children’s Room – Begins June 1.

Need to earn community service hours? Then we have an opportunity for you! The Children’s Room is looking for volunteers to help with the Summer Reading Club beginning July 5 through August 13. Register beginning June 1 in the Children’s Room.

Chalk Your Walk

Registration Required – See June 6 on the events calendar.

Pick up your chalk at the library and then go home and decorate your walk with a positive message for your neighbors.

iNaturalist Contribution

No Registration Required. June 1 – August 31.

Connect with nature. iNaturalist is the perfect blend of science and mobile technology. Download the app and identify the plants and trees in your own backyard by taking pictures. Record your observations and email us your findings at bmickowski@oceansidelibrary.com for 1 hour of community service.

Anna’s House – School Supplies Drive

June 1 – July 31
Registration Required – See June 1 on the events calendar.

For every five school supply items you donate you will receive 1 hour of community service with a max of 3 hours. Items can be but not limited to pens, pencils, glue sticks, folders, marble notebooks, folders, loose leaf or any school items. Items will be collected until July 31. Please attach your name and email address to your donation.
Anna’s House is a full scale childcare and early childhood education facility with educational programs for preschoolers and weekend programs for school age children.

The Teens & COVID-19 Project

Use this community service opportunity as a creative outlet to share your thoughts and experiences related to the pandemic.  Share your story via written piece, photo journal, piece of artwork, or any other creative work. Earn 2 hours of community service. Email  with any questions and with your completed work.

For Teens, By Teens Videos

Do you have a craft that you’d like to share with your peers in the community? Record a video of you making a craft project for any age group. The video should be a maximum of 5 minutes and will be uploaded to our YouTube channel. Please do not use any background music. Send your completed video and/or any questions to gtrinchetta@oceansidelibrary.com.

You will receive 2 hours of community service.

Book Review Submissions

Contribute to our new Teen Bookstagram by reviewing a book you recently read! Click here for details and for the Google Form to submit your first review.  You can submit a maximum of 2 reviews per month for 1 hour of service each.

Become a Bookstagrammer

Help us make content for our teen instagram page (@OLnyteens) and earn an hour of community service. Submit a bookstagram post and caption by emailing it to Gabriella at .
