Computers, Internet, & Copy Machine

Computers, WiFi & more!

Public Computers & Printers

Computers are available in the Adult Department to any patrons in Grade 7 through adults. All public computers provide free access to the internet.

Computer users under the age of 18 must complete an application and have it signed by a parent or guardian. Applications are available at both the Information and Reference Desks.

Computer printers print in black and white only. If you need a color print, you may use the copy machine.

If you need to use special paper to type a resume, you must notify a librarian before doing so.

Computers are also available in the Children’s Room for those with a Children’s Library Card. Written parental consent is required. Permission forms may be obtained at the Children’s Reference Desk and will be kept on record there.

  • MS Word
  • MS PowerPoint
  • MS Excel
  • MS Works

No additional programs may be downloaded or installed on the public computers.

With regards to internet access, the library has no control over this research tool and assumes no responsibility for its content, quality, accuracy, or currency. It is important for parents to be aware that the internet may contain material of a controversial nature. Therefore, it is a parent’s responsibility to monitor their children’s selections.

WiFi

We are pleased to offer wireless internet access to our patrons, allowing anyone with a wireless-enabled laptop or device to access the Internet anywhere in the building without having to wait for a public computer.

We have recently expanded our WiFi to extend outside of our building as part of the WiFi Whenever project. WiFi now reaches our parking lot and can be accessed 24/7. Click here for a full list of libraries in Nassau County that offer this service.

If you need to print, you must save your work either on a flash drive or email it to yourself. You may then sign in at the Reference Desk or Information Desk to use one of the Library’s computers to print out your document.

Our free wireless service is an open network and is not secure. Users are responsible for personal information sent across the wireless network. Users are also responsible for any damage to their personal equipment including viruses or hacking.

Copy Machine

There is a copy machine available to the public which patrons can use to make copies in color and in black and white (must have change and/or small bills for the machine). You can also plug in a flash drive to print copies from the flash drive or scan documents onto the flash drive.
