Happiness Happens Month is celebrated in August.

Knowing I’d be writing the August blog about Happiness heightened my awareness of the topic. I started noticing happiness comments and quotes all over. Here are some that caught my attention:

“Some cause happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go” attributed to Oscar Wilde

“There is no way to happiness – happiness is the way” Thich Nhat Hanh

“Happiness is not by chance, but by choice”  Jim Rohn

(Content warning, this discusses suicidal feelings)

While I was watching After Life, the Netflix comedy drama with Ricky Gervais, there’s a scene where the characters Tony and Anne are talking in the cemetery and Anne says, Happiness is amazing. It’s so amazing it doesn’t matter if it’s yours or not.”

After I wiped away tears, I thought about it. And I have to say I agree with Anne. Grief and happiness are woven through After Life. It has become one of my favorites.

Happiness is the Way by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

The Good Life: Lessons from the World’s Longest Scientific Study of Happiness by Robert Waldinger and Marc Schulz

Authentic Happiness : using the new positive psychology to realize your potential for lasting fulfillment

Getting Back to Happy : change your thoughts, change your reality, and turn your trials into triumphs by Marc & Angel Chernoff

The Blue Zones of Happiness : lessons from the world’s happiest people by Dan Buettner

If you thought about it and you’d like to read more about happiness, I’d suggest these titles:
