Knowing I’d be writing the August blog about Happiness heightened my awareness of the topic. I started noticing happiness comments and quotes all over. Here are some that caught my attention:
“Some cause happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go” attributed to Oscar Wilde
“There is no way to happiness – happiness is the way” Thich Nhat Hanh
“Happiness is not by chance, but by choice” Jim Rohn
(Content warning, this discusses suicidal feelings)
While I was watching After Life, the Netflix comedy drama with Ricky Gervais, there’s a scene where the characters Tony and Anne are talking in the cemetery and Anne says, “Happiness is amazing. It’s so amazing it doesn’t matter if it’s yours or not.”
After I wiped away tears, I thought about it. And I have to say I agree with Anne. Grief and happiness are woven through After Life. It has become one of my favorites.
