January’s blog by Adult Librarian Rebecca Alberto
Happy New Year, Oceanside! If you’re like me, you are starting off 2025 with big aspirations and a few goals. I’d like to exercise more, eat healthier, read more books, make new friends, and win the lottery. You’ve got to aim high, right?! Luckily, the Oceanside Library has the tools and resources to help with (almost) all these goals.
- Exercise on your list of resolutions? Check out our lineup of Healthy Oceanside exercise programs.
- Want to unplug and spend more time reading this year? We have several book discussion groups, book recommendations, and a winter reading challenge with excellent prizes.
- Looking to meet new people? Join one of our social connection programs like Dine Around Town, TED Talks, or Game Time for Adults.
- Trying to eat healthier? Join the Cookbook Club as we discuss recipes and tips for healthy eating.
- You also have dreams of winning the lottery?? If I knew the secret to winning big, I would be on a beach in the Bahamas and not looking out the window as the snow falls down. But one can dream and we have books about winning big. Spoiler alert: winning the lottery is not always a good thing. Try one of these novels about winning millions: Windfall by Jennifer Smith, Jackpot Summer by Elyssa Friedland, Lucky Girl by Jamie Pacton, Windfall by Wendy Corsi Staub, and The Winner by David Baldacci.
As always, we have books on almost every subject imaginable. Here are a few recommendations to get your year started off right!
