Library of Things

Our Library of Things lets you check out more than just books! Our collection of things gives you the opportunity to learn, create, and explore and all you need is your library card to get started.
Eligibility
- The Library of Things is available to all Oceanside Library cardholders 18 years or older.
Borrowing Procedures
- A valid Oceanside Library card must be presented at the time of borrowing.
- Items are loaned for a period of 7 days.
- Renewal may be possible depending on availability and demand.
- Patrons may borrow up to 3 items at a time.
Item Condition and Maintenance
- All items must be returned in the same condition in which they were borrowed. This includes cleaning any items before returning them.
- Patrons should inspect items at the time of borrowing and immediately report any damage or issues.
- If an item is returned damaged or dirty, the borrower may be required to pay for repairs or replacement costs.
Late Returns
- Recurrent late returns may lead to suspension of LoT borrowing privileges.
Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Items
- If an item is lost or stolen, the borrower is responsible for notifying the Library immediately. If an item is lost, stolen, or damaged, the borrower may be required to pay for repairs or the cost of replacing the item. If applicable, the borrower should provide the Library with homeowner’s or rental insurance information.
Return Procedures
- Items should be returned during regular library hours at the Welcome Desk.
- Borrowers must ensure that all parts and accessories are returned with the item.
Proper Use and Care
- Borrowers are responsible for using items only for their intended purpose and ensuring they are maintained in good condition during the loan period.
- Items must not be altered or modified in any way.
Safe Operation
- Borrowers must follow any safety instructions provided with the item and use it in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- For certain items (e.g., power tools, heavy equipment), the borrower may be required to sign an additional waiver.
Liability
- Borrowers agree to use the items at their own risk.
- The Library is not liable for any injury, damage, or loss arising from the use of borrowed items.
- Borrowers are responsible for any injury or damage caused by the improper use of an item, including damage to property or persons.
