TEMPORARY DIGITAL LIBRARY CARD |
Nassau Library System is
offering Oceanside residents the option of registering for a
digital-access-only, short-term library “card" offering
access to things like eBooks, audiobooks, live tutoring,
digital magazines, language courses, test prep, and more!
Even now, your library is here to help you learn, grow, and
entertain your kids!
How this works:
Oceanside residents will
apply via this
special NLS website.
NLS staff will verify the responses and code the cards, and
transmit the new barcode number to the
Oceanside resident
electronically. NOTE: Please be aware that NLS is
still working
remotely and with limited staff so a response may not be
immediate.
Digital-only cards will expire on July 1, 2021.
Please note: If you currently have an Oceanside library card
but can not find your barcode number, please reach out to
NLS using the same link. They can reconnect you with
your barcode number, renew your card if it has expired but
is still in the system, and help you reset your PIN.
Thank you to NLS staff for going above and beyond to help
provide the best service for all Nassau patrons!!
What
Oceanside residents
are allowed to do:
Oceanside residents
will be allowed to borrow digital content from OverDrive via
Nassau Digital Doorway.
Oceanside residents
will be able to borrow digital magazines through
rbDigital.
Oceanside residents
(over 18 years of age)
will be able to borrow then stream or download audiobooks,
movies, TV shows, music, eBooks, comics and graphic novels
through
Hoopla Digital.
Oceanside residents
will be allowed to use
library databases remotely (as well as
resources on
Oceanside 24/7/365)
as most databases and digital services do require your 14-digit Oceanside Library
barcode number.
These digital-only cards will not allow for physical item
checkouts or hold placement through the online catalog.
Please call us at 516-766-2360 to set up an In-Person
Browsing & Borrowing Appointment and we will be
happy to issue you a new card allowing you to make use of
all our library services.
This is advantageous for our
Oceanside residents
who are quarantined
and/or self-isolating or have cards that have expired and
are no longer in the library system.
As we cannot be sure when the Library will be completely open and able to
resume traditional service, this temporary service will
allow access to our resources for a wider number of users in
our community.
